I would like to reupholster my sofa. It is currently leather and I would like to reupholster it in a fabric. It has 3 seat cushions & 3 back cushions, but they are attached. Do you think that once I cut the cushion fabric to remove it from the couch the filling will come out? or do you think it's contained w/a liner? Also, do you think I'm crazy to try to attempt this project? I've reupholstered 2 side chairs (but these were only the seat and the back), an ottoman and a small foot stool & 4 dining chairs (seats) so far. Or do you think I should do a full chair upholstery job first before attempting to reupholster my couch? |

The reason why I want to reupholster it is because the leather is peeling. Very weird, but the sofa is so comfortable. |

Reply with quote | #4 | I reupolstered a couch once that had attached cushions. The cushions have stuffing and a backing attached. Whatever you do, don't cut any fabric off. Instead take each peice off, usually starting in the back. Every piece you take off will be a pattern for the new fabric. Keep track of the order you take off pieces. That will help in putting it back together. Good luck. Right now I'm contemplating on reupolstering a reclining couch, and love seat. It too has attached cushions. The frame is in excellent condition, in fact the whole thing is in excellent condition except for the one space my husband sits. It has a hole in it. Good luck with your project. |
